Terence Harris is a workplace safety executive who believes that keeping people safe on the job is about building trust, not ticking boxes on a compliance form. With over 20 years of experience managing risk in both healthcare and heavy logistics, he currently serves as an Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Executive Leader at Amazon, where he oversees safety strategies across the company’s fast-paced UK and EU operations.

Terence’s practical approach to safety comes from a career built on the front lines. He spent his early years working twilight shifts in hospital Accident & Emergency (A&E) departments while putting himself through university to earn a degree in Environmental Health. Before moving into the corporate world, he managed health and safety for the NHS. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he led the massive respiratory fit-testing program that kept thousands of frontline clinical staff safe at the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

In October 2021, Terence transitioned to the logistics sector, joining Amazon as a Senior Site WHS Manager and lead the team at the MAN8 Sort Centre in Haydock, orchestrating the intensive 10-month push that made MAN8 the very first Amazon site in the United Kingdom to achieve the strict ISO 45001 safety certification. Throughout his tenure with Amazon, he’s overseen health and safety strategies for some of the world’s most complex logistics networks.

As the founder of The Safe Leader Co. and author of the leadership journal “So, You’re a Health & Safety Manager. Now What?: The First 90 Days,” Terence shares his Everyday Safety Leadership method with managers and executives worldwide. His goal is simple: to help operational leaders build high-trust workspaces where employees feel completely safe to speak up, point out hazards, or pause a job when something isn’t right.

Terence is a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (MCIEH), the Royal Society for Public Health (MRSPH), and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (GradIOSH). He lives and works in the UK, where he actively mentors young professionals entering the environmental health industry.
